Favourite Pokémon: Top Six Fire Starter Final Evolutions
In the final of three countdowns of starter evolutions we come to my personal favourite and preferential choice in the fire type. This list has proven difficult as I hold a lot of these Pokémon in high regard so it made choosing the top six and what order they go in much harder. For the first time in doing this I can say all eight were considered for the list at some point. So with that all in mind the top six are as follows. This one was a real struggle the two missing from the list in Typhlosion and Infernape are also really good designs and really narrowly missed out. This is the only one of these starter lists where the order has been changed and debated the rest went really straight forward but that this proved the most difficult which is a testament to the great designs on offer for the fire starters.
Number Six: Delphox
To some a controversial pick and considering how high I was on Greninja last time out you'd be forgiven thinking I do not rate Delphox highly. However, it's a design and type that fits it's gimmick. As a mage it should by psychic and is, it should have a wand due to this and does in it's branch on fire. I'm not one for stats but that Delphox fits it's gimmick so well, while I found generation six one of the weaker ones still Delphox is an enjoyable memory.
Number Five: Emboar
The big bad and dangerous pig from Generation five comes in next. Ham Ham Pigelow reminds me a lot of one of my favourite big men in wrestling Bam Bam Bigelow. As seen in the following image (https://i.chzbgr.com/full/5364291840/h49062731/problem) it seems that Bam Bam played some inspiration. Bam Bam played a big part in New Japan and the early 90s being in the 1991 G1 climax and heralded as a key Gaijin in this time period winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships with Vader as Big Bad & Dangerous. Look if Fire Fighting for a third generation in a row didn't have such a strong design that reminded me of a wrestler I hold in high regard I wouldn't like it but thanks to Bam Bam Bigelow it means Emboar makes number five.
Number Four: Cinderace
At number four is the newest Fire starter Cinderace. Based on a football player and by the sports popularity in the United Kingdom which was use as the base for the Galar region it really fits the mould for something UK based. I'm a big fan of how the Pokémon looks like it is wearing a football kit and how when you win a gym or key battle that it celebrates with the famed knee slide like many a footballer have. I would love if we could get a rival for this Pokémon, a goalkeeper themed one, just more football themed Pokémon please.
Number Three: Incineroar
When a Pokémon based on a wrestler makes number five the heel Pokémon itself makes number three. The hardest call on this list was between Cinderace & Incineroar and who would ranked third. In the end my love for wrestling triumphed over my love of football. Looking like a big bad heel wrestler so the inspiration was achieved. I wish they'd do more Pokémon based on wrestlers, they always have strong designs (well I mean they've been two so far) how about a counter to Incineroar with the Face Pokémon, it could be a water type so good always triumphs over evil. I also really love its title belt really helps sell this Pokémon is a wrestler.
Number Two: Charizard
The original Fire starter takes number two. With two Mega Evolutions and a Gigantamax there is a lot to unpack. The dragon not dragon unless you use Charizardite X has a top design with a great mesh of colours and a wing span. To summarise Charizard is a hard one, I have to say what makes this a great design as it is arguably the second most recognisable Pokémon design. I have to be honest my love for Charizard came from the way to tore through all that stood in its way when I played Fire Red, no matter what the Pokémon in it's way way it was either a flamethrower or a wing attack as Charizard took all the EXP for itself running ahead of the rest of my . I never completed Fire Red as was my young self moving game to game and never finishing any but it was nice to have one on my team that won the league in Let's Go. The powerhouse that ran through all I put in its way while great was still only good for spot number two.
Number One: Blaziken
Number one the obvious choice and my favourite Pokémon of all time. Torchic was my first ever Pokémon and my introduction to the series through Sapphire version. Through playing the game when I could are sharing it with my brother Torchic was the ace swept through everything to the point where it got to level 100 and then took the Pokémon league apart, my next highest level Pokémon was a level 55 Machamp he would take the league on his own. Whenever I think of Blaziken I remember that machine that tore through the Hoenn region Blaze kicking everything in sight. In terms of the design I really liked the yellow feathers at the bottom of its legs looking like flames, I've always found it cool as a main standout but overall I can't fault the design, it is a perfect mesh of colours on over body to really reflect what they wanted in this Pokémon and all I wanted in an ace.
That brings to an end the ranking of the fire starters. Easily the quickest one of these list to create because I have a personal experience with all listed. I always look to the fire starter first for each generation. It's a habit but as you can tell I love this type. I may keep this sort of ranking system going but I'm undecided on what to do it for as of this moment of writing, either way it has been fun to compare how each generation has fared when it comes to the starter Pokémon.
