Baseless Pitch: Xenoblade Warriors

Nintendo and Dynasty Warriors seems a match made in heaven for non canon hack and slash games for franchises. Seeing as the Legend of Zelda has had two warriors games and Fire Emblem has had one I imagine a lot are thinking what other franchises could also have this sort of spin off. To me no other franchise makes more sense than Xenoblade Chronicles. Here I want to briefly touch on what the roster could look like and how the story could look like. Playable Characters: With this being a non-canon game you can have some real fun with the roster, Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors took characters from the entire history of the franchise and if you just look at protagonist teams you have a lot to choose from. Breaking it down you could have all or most of the below as playable characters. Xenoblade Chronicles One: Shulk Reyn Fiora Dunban Sharla Riki Melia  Xenoblade Chronicles Two: Rex Nia Tora Morag Zeke Vandham Xenoblade Chronicles Two: Torna The Golden Country: Addam Lora Hug...

My Issues With Silent Protagonists

Over the past while I've been able to play some games which I have never had a chance to as well as a few new releases. Those in question are Tokyo Mirage Sessions & the recent release of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and both got me thinking on the way they use their main characters. With Tokyo Mirage Sessions made by Atlus I drew comparisons with Persona 5 and with Three Hopes being another entry for Fire Emblem Three Houses I began comparing protagonists and it made me realise something. I have a serious issue with silent protagonists. First a breakdown on silent protagonists. Between Joker, Byleth and other examples like Link are the player controlled character which does not have a voice, while they may communicate through grunts and dialogue choices. Hearing a protagonist actually talk and emote has been a welcome change when it comes to these style of games for me. Personally hearing the character I'm playing as talk and interact with others is better than a dial...

Fire Emblem Fates - My Personal Problem with Corrin

Image
For reference before we begin this post will only cover Fire Emblem Fates and not Corrin's inclusion to Super Smash Bros and the whole Fire Emblem 'controversy' surrounding the franchise and host of characters in Smash. If I am honest my opinion on that as a whole is covered a lot better then I could by Schaffrillas Productions in the following video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_Dg8qOYZzU so please watch that. When I saw the image above it was the first thing I saw of Fire Emblem Fates and I loved it. Combine it with the concept and I found it interesting a character torn between his birth family and the family he grew up with, what the internal struggle for Corrin could be, how would his two families react and the kingdom themselves. I was hooked in on concept alone and coming off of being one of the many people who got their first taste of Fire Emblem with Awakening I was really looking forward to this. And then the game happened.  Look, Fates it isn't the wors...

Discussion Piece: Fire Emblem Three Houses (Spoilers Ahead)

I should preface this by saying this is more me talking about a game than a rigid essay or have a real structure to it like any past writing of mine. It’s been a long time coming I was over the moon when Fire Emblem came through my post box on Friday July 26th, I had waited a long time for this game to come and I wasn’t disappointed, all Fire Emblem games I’ve played I have enjoyed mainly for the characters in them, I looked up the houses beforehand and decided to select The Black Eagles as I see online I was in the majority, again as ever characters are the strength of a Fire Emblem game, seeing the evolution of them all is great to see, I love the quirks and personality of each character in that house that all feel different makes speaking to each one different and enjoyable. The addition of a full voice cast helps to sell this more then other games. However, as I do on a first play through for Fire Emblem I recklessly charge ahead through the story keeping with at least the main...
