Can American Wrestling Sustain a Third Major Company?

When everything is said and done September 1st 2018 and All In will go down as a pivotal date in American wrestling. For me it is up there with July 7th 1996 (Hogan is the third man), November 9th 1997 (the Montreal Screwjob) & March 26th 2001 (WWE purchases WCW) as some of the key dates which had a long standing effect and change the landscape of American wrestling. Without All In we do not get AEW and the kick that has given wrestling. We have seen only recently with the return of CM Punk after 7 years as well as WWE changing NXT and its whole outlook for hiring talents shift completely and I imagine this is only the beginning due to certain rumblings in the wrestling world.    Rumours have circulated about a new third 'major' wrestling promotion coming to America. Between Jeff Jarrett dropping vague hints about a new promotion on his podcast and reports of this promotion being interested in signing up recently released talents in the wake of WWE's recent 'budget ...

What's Next For The Belt Collector Kenny Omega?

Image
On April 25th 2021 Kenny Omega once again made history at Impact Wrestling Rebellion. With winning the Impact World Championship, Kenny Omega became the world champion of two separate companies at the same time (3 counting Mexico's AAA). It got me thinking where does this go next or where does Omega go next. Before I delve into possibilities I do need to state I am a fan of Kenny Omega. I feel a lot of people dislike him to get hits on social media but I can understand he isn't everyone's cup of tea. Regardless, to me Omega is one of the best around currently and that's reflected in what will be a legendary career when all said and done (if being world champion for 4 different companies in 3 different countries isn't ...

October 2019 seems to be by most accounts the biggest month in wrestling since March 2001. Smackdown moving to Fox, Impact moving to AXS, NXT moving to USA, AEW debuting its weekly show on TNT not to mention New Japan’s first solo American tour at the end of September in all that sometimes lost in the shuffle is the NWA and its return to studio wrestling. I wanted to write out a quick piece on this and how I’m looking forward to it. There’s been talk for years amongst some on how most wrestling shows look the same, in an NFL or NHL area (smaller shows in smaller venues) using the same sort of cameras and storytelling ideas year on year, there was a general consensus that Impact and ROH were at points trying to be WWE but smaller (forgetting what made each respective show popular to begin with). That is what makes this NWA Studio Wrestling an interesting concept it’s already unique. No other major American show films in this way small compact in a studio it creates a curiosity as to h...
