Ramblings of an Englishman

For the record before we start I am aware that both Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers both exist one serving as a sequel the idea below follows from Strikers think of it as Persona 5 2 of sorts. I will however incorporate characters from Royal as well in order to use the full catalogue of characters at our disposal. Thinks of this as a time line of Royal to Strikers to this idea just that Yoshizawa was just away during Strikers. Spoilers for all three games previously mentioned below. One of my favourite games to play in the last few years was Persona 5. While Strikers comes out the end of February 2021 and I didn't play Royal the original game is probably one of my favourite games in recent memories. It was a fun immersive experience which left me wanting more (well obviously not enough to play a remake with some extra new additions thrown on) but in the form of a brand new story. Now obviously the first point of call is for this to take place post Strikers the Phantom Thieve...

For reference before we begin this post will only cover Fire Emblem Fates and not Corrin's inclusion to Super Smash Bros and the whole Fire Emblem 'controversy' surrounding the franchise and host of characters in Smash. When I saw the image above it was the first thing I saw of Fire Emblem Fates and I loved it. Combine it with the concept and I found it interesting a character torn between his birth family and the family he grew up with, what the internal struggle for Corrin could be, how would his two families react and the kingdom themselves. I was hooked in on concept alone and coming off of being one of the many people who got their first taste of Fire Emblem with Awakening I was really looking forward to this. 2021 has finally come and with it brings a whole next rotation of PPVs for AEW for me to give my thoughts on. It's hard to believe just 12 months ago AEW had a full venue for Revolution to see Jon Moxley win the AEW title it feels like multiple lifetimes ago not 12 months. Regardless as with all wrestling companies AEW has tried to make the best out of the bad situation and with a fun card lined up I was hopeful it could live up to it.  Britt Baker & Maki Itoh vs. Thunder Rosa & Riho AEW brought over Maki Itoh over as Britt Baker's partner and it was a great move. Itoh is insanely charismatic and will be a big star on that alone. While not the best in the ring that can come in time and with that I hope they get her full time soon as Itoh is a phenomenal. The match was good and serves as another step in the Baker and Rosa match. I look forward to the eventual blow off match. I do wonder what is next for Riho. I should preface this by saying I do enjoy some of The Fiend's work I think it's an interesting gimmick. The idea of this is to look at what is happening and why fans seem to be turning off the character as a whole. When Bray Wyatt came back as The Fiend WWE audiences were intrigued by the new character and what it would mean for Bray Wyatt who career is stagnated. After battering Finn Balor at SummerSlam 2019 the only logical step was to have him challenge for the Universal title held at the time by Seth Rollins. Well, one mismanaged Hell in a Cell match later and it felt like a sucker punch for the character. While he has had his ups and downs with 2 world title wins since the debut of the character it is safe to say that audience reaction has changed. Using the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) award you can see The Fiend went from Best Gimmick in 2019 to Worst Gimmick in 2020. Over the past few generations of Pokémon the regional variants of classic Pokémon has proven to be a series highlight. Breathing new life into classic designs with a new spin or typing and even doing further to add new evolutions really helps keep things fresh. In a game series with 898 unique Pokémon it stands to reason to refresh older designs to add to that regions choice. That being said I do wonder if we will see these forms would be introduced to the generation 4 remakes likely to come out this year or if this will wait until Generation 9. We did see with the Generation 3 remakes that mega evolutions were added and seeing how regional variants were not a thing then we can't use this as a basis we won't see this implemented here. Regardless, much like others I have Pokémon I'd like to see get this treatment. When AEW announced they were to get a console video game it was met with genuine optimism after what can only be described as one of the worst wrestling games if not one of the worst video games of all time in WWE 2K20. If anything 2K20 as a whole could be a blessing in disguise for AEW it shows how to not do a video game. While we seem a fair way out from the games release with the earliest I imagine being holiday season this year but most likely 2022 I imagine we will get news throughout this year and an eventual release date. With that being said, nothing beats unfounded baseless speculation and that's what I'm doing here. Now as just stated nothing here is confirmed it's just my thoughts on what could be.  Before I start talking about game content I’d like to see I think it’s obvious to address that above all else I just want to see a working wrestling game. With a total of 12 seasons over 2 games I have held interest and record of 109 regens from 48 different nations it is fair to say I hold a vested interest in a large amount of time an effort into developing regens even if they do not end up making a first team appearance for me and I end up sending them out on loan I always make sure to track their developments. Having a developed plan for regen development allows for long term growth and success and that is what us seen in my teams. Since the end of my time with Football Manager 2020 I have been detailing my regens and which one's top my preference for a best 11 over both of these teams. As ever this team will follow the 4-2-3-1 formation I use for all teams. For this I have considered the regens of both Chelsea and Dagenham saves as well as the smaller saves using both the American and Norwegian international teams.
