Quick Thoughts: AEW Dynasty 2025
I've had a rough weekend so end the Mox world title run for me please.
It seems just yesterday that Revolution was aired and now we are back with the next PPV. 2025 remains a strong year for AEW with public perception/good will towards the public increasing. The reported 1 million domestic viewers a week I think has caused Tony Khan to set up his game in relation to creative and the shows which I think has paid off. This card features a good amount of well booked feuds which leads to a good show.
On top of this the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament starts. What is the spring tournament for AEW I am in favour with having a 16 person bracket per tournament. Get more people in I feel everyone should be looking to be in this if the winner gets the biggest title match of the year. Either way onto the show.
Hey this pre-show from what is announced at least by Sunday morning works out as some fun stuff built up so I think for once I'm actually breaking it down.
Zero Hour
Nick Wayne and CRU (Action Andretti and Lio Rush) vs. AR Fox and Top Flight (Dante Martin and Darius Martin)
Should've called CRU 'Evil Top Flight' I think it works better and makes me laugh. But this should be a good match all 6 on paper are good wrestlers so this should be fun. Weird how the Christian has gone from TV and Nick Wayne is off to BOSJ so this story is kinda on hold I guess? I dunno but good to see Nick Wayne getting more in ring time he should be wrestling once a week either on AEW or ROH. Fun match we need more of these six it was a great showcase for AR Fox as well he had that great showcase of moves in the match but

Max Caster Open Challenge
Have to admit, this open challenge has gotten over with me. The obnoxious chant and Max Caster getting angry every time his open challenge is answered are a lot of fun. However, I think this time it should be Anthony Bowens answering getting this story back. I dunno how The Acclaimed break up goes in terms of matches maybe they do a custody of Billy Gunn ladder match but we will see. I think both have potential to work as solo acts but I'm interested in how Bowens is as a singles act. Bowens looks good and has a new theme hopefully it leads to a sustained push.
Main Show
Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament Quarterfinal: Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight
Former multiple time IWGP Jr Tag Team Champion and a man who has wrestled in the Tokyo Dome Kevin Knight said no to forward roll class and try outs to joint AEW and I am super happy to see it. Keep all the talents I like in companies I watch and I do believe Kevin Knight has tremendous potential for AEW and ROH. Unfortunately he is facing the man I have losing the final in Will Ospreay but this will be a tremendous showcase before he leaves for Best of the Super Juniors (which I mean AEW need to highlight him and Nick Wayne while they're over there). Super fun match and good showcase for Kevin Knight hope he gets used on a regular basis but I mean BOSJ is soon.
AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) (c) (with MVP) vs. The Learning Tree (Big Bill and Bryan Keith)
The Hurt Syndicate have been great end boss of tag teams and the way they are built the people who beat them will benefit greatly from it (should be Top Flight). Big Bill and Bryan Keith getting on PPV after a Brian Cage injury is good I think it's time they got away from Jericho and hopefully they get time to show how good they are.
Women's Owen Hart Cup Tournament Quarterfinal: Mercedes Moné vs. Julia Hart
While I get that Mercedes is in this tournament to set up the build to her vs. Athena for the TBS title down the line I'm not a fan of the TBS champion being in the tournament to win a shot at the Women's World Championship it makes the TBS title feel secondary. Still Mercedes have been in a good run of matches and I hope this will be the same. As for the tournament stick me down for a Jamie Hayter win. Sloppy match but the crowd still was there for it. I dunno felt like a chemistry isue between these two predictable winner as you'd expect but yeah not the best.
AEW World Trios Championship Match: Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta) (c) vs. Rated FTR (Cope, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood)
With Malakai gone my new person to see if they take a pinfall is COPE. Hey look if you are so gotten to by the I never lose reports go and lose. I think the Death Riders retain here and we are on the slow All In build to FTR vs. Cope and Cage it just seems the logical way of doing it but I do have to admit this is my least interested match of the night. Let's move past this to having The Opps win the trios titles please. Good fun match but I loved the post match FTR heel turn is really needed and their post conchairto and stretcher antics. Good match and segment.
AEW Women's World Championship Match: "Timeless" Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Megan Bayne
Megan Bayne has been given the monster push since signing a contract with AEW and she has a presence and power to her which helps in getting a new big feud for Toni straight after finishing with Mariah May. I've gone back and forth on who the winner will be on this as Toni doesn't really need the title but I can see Toni vs. Jamie at All In as it makes sense to bring this feud back as Jamie never got her revenge on Toni for injuring her. This was better then I thought it would be. Megan looked strong in defeat
Men's Owen Hart Cup Tournament Quarterfinal: Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe
I have to be honest I don't have much to say for this match it's more the tournament is starting. I have Hangman winning the tournament and Flether winning here so let's see. This was a good match but I didn't really need it on PPV. Still good stuff Fletcher is losing to Hangman so let's continue.
ROH World Championship Title vs. Mask Match: Chris Jericho (title) vs. Bandido (mask)
I mean this is probably the best Jericho has been in years I can't lie but he should lose. I love Bandido and it's time he got a title win plus then any main event with Bandido for ROH PPVs should be good fun. ROH TV deal ain't happening with Jericho so time to build someone young and talented up. This match will get overly hated because it's Jericho and that gets social media engagement but I found it fun Jericho took forever for his pinfall post bat but it was good. Now build ROH around Bandido.
AEW TNT Championship Match: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Adam Cole
After two matches one a no contest and one a time limit draw it makes sense to blow this feud off here. I think the TNT title needs a reset they haven't done much with Garcia when it comes to it and I think he could use something to build him back up (and honestly send him for G1 this year). It wouldn't shock me to have Adam Cole win by a big defence and feud for the belt is a good step now keep it up. Probably the worst match of the three I wasn't feeling this one, good for Cole winning the belt hopefully it gets some prominence now.
AEW International Championship Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Ricochet vs. "Speedball" Mike Bailey
This is what will be a fun match for sure. I do like the idea of Kenny being a final boss like talent as he has been built the last two PPVs. Ricochet deserves to have a PPV title match after a good few months and Speedball has been a fun addition to the roster. While it does feel like Omega vs. Okada title for title is the route for All In it doesn't mean that the match here can't be fun even with what is expected to be an Omega win. Match of the night for sure all three men are great as ever as we build to Omega vs. Okada the winner is expected but still a fun match.
AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana)
I don't have much else to add. I'm over this world title run, Swerve is great don't waste time waiting for Darby to come back you can't guarantee how he will be physically or recover from climbing Everest just put the belt on Swerve now. Fuck this
Awful ending stop with this shit had enough just end it don't have comment on rest of the show main event soured it fuck off......see you for Double or Nothing
