A Marvel Cinematic Universe Game - Game Idea Concept
As this is an ever updating title this has a SPOILER alert. (Please note this is an old post made by me on a previous blog which I am moving over to here)
For me there is nothing currently going that gets my attention more than the workings of Marvel with their Cinematic Universe. Ever since I was 11 with the release of Iron Man the characters and stories told have hooked me. Speaking of those characters, when it comes to the MCU there is a load of characters at the disposal of Marvel from those based on Earth to all around the cosmos, and the potential to release content set in the MCU is at an all-time high for years fans have wanted the stars of the films and stars of the TV & Netflix show to interact but never have had the chance. Perhaps they didn't have a better chance than with Lego Marvel Avengers a few years ago however I was left disappointed at the game as it had the potential to deliver upon the use all these characters to tell a vast original story but decided to just replay parts of the films using audio from the films in the majority of places that really took me out of enjoying it (on a side note it is good to see they are making a new Lego Marvel Superheroes set with an original story as this is where the team that makes these Lego Superhero games excel creating fun new stories instead of ripping content straight form films). With all this in mind I feel that there is enough characters to produce a large, vast and all around good story telling experience. Let's start with the characters of the MCU that would be included in this story and how that story would play out.

Now I would be a fool to suggest that all of these characters could fit into one story for one game so it would mainly be the core players of the MCU itself. As ever Thanos would be the centre of the plot, he has all the infinity stones but the might of Earth is stopping him from taking over the Earth. So what Thanos does is use the Infinity Stones to manipulate time and bring all of the Avengers most feared foes into one time all under his command, faced with this task all of Marvel's heroes must band together to fight all these foes before one big assault on Thanos.
In regards to this I would have the heroes in the story divided into their respective teams with them taking on a selected group of villains that most relate to them (so Avengers to on Avengers villains, Netflix heroes take on Netflix villains etc). This would be how it would start but with Thanos later realizing that the heroes knowing their villains he changes who they fight (so for example Loki then fight the Agents of Shield or Kilgrave fights the Avengers or The Children of Thanos facing The Defenders) allowing for unique confrontations not see (or likely to be seen) in the MCU. I feel it would be important to create unique interactions and confrontations in order to generate a reason to by the game if it's just a repeat of what has already been seen it wouldn't interest most (and reflects my problem with Lego Marvel Avengers).
The final chapter of the story would see Thanos infinity gauntlet all powered up with his children the last line of defence, and he and his children would battle all of the heroes the biggest team up of all the heroes of the MCU to finally stop Thanos and his control of all reality with and destroy the Infinity Gauntlet. Each Child of Thanos could take on a different group of heroes leaving just Thanos at the end facing the might of all of them. It's the big team up of all the characters at the MCU's disposal which while Infinity War promises to have won't have any TV characters in (as it stands at this time).
Conclusion
In conclusion when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe the possibilities are endless I mean I haven't even looked into the comic book tie ins and the characters in those. As a giant spectacle to me it only makes sense to continue to build on this on different platforms to provide stories featuring a wide cast of heroes, villains and everything in between. Will we eventually get a video game using the MCU as the setting and these versions of characters I don't know but I hope so. But what do you think? Would an MCU based game work? Story
Now I would be a fool to suggest that all of these characters could fit into one story for one game so it would mainly be the core players of the MCU itself. As ever Thanos would be the centre of the plot, he has all the infinity stones but the might of Earth is stopping him from taking over the Earth. So what Thanos does is use the Infinity Stones to manipulate time and bring all of the Avengers most feared foes into one time all under his command, faced with this task all of Marvel's heroes must band together to fight all these foes before one big assault on Thanos.
In regards to this I would have the heroes in the story divided into their respective teams with them taking on a selected group of villains that most relate to them (so Avengers to on Avengers villains, Netflix heroes take on Netflix villains etc). This would be how it would start but with Thanos later realizing that the heroes knowing their villains he changes who they fight (so for example Loki then fight the Agents of Shield or Kilgrave fights the Avengers or The Children of Thanos facing The Defenders) allowing for unique confrontations not see (or likely to be seen) in the MCU. I feel it would be important to create unique interactions and confrontations in order to generate a reason to by the game if it's just a repeat of what has already been seen it wouldn't interest most (and reflects my problem with Lego Marvel Avengers).
The final chapter of the story would see Thanos infinity gauntlet all powered up with his children the last line of defence, and he and his children would battle all of the heroes the biggest team up of all the heroes of the MCU to finally stop Thanos and his control of all reality with and destroy the Infinity Gauntlet. Each Child of Thanos could take on a different group of heroes leaving just Thanos at the end facing the might of all of them. It's the big team up of all the characters at the MCU's disposal which while Infinity War promises to have won't have any TV characters in (as it stands at this time).
Conclusion
In conclusion when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe the possibilities are endless I mean I haven't even looked into the comic book tie ins and the characters in those. As a giant spectacle to me it only makes sense to continue to build on this on different platforms to provide stories featuring a wide cast of heroes, villains and everything in between. Will we eventually get a video game using the MCU as the setting and these versions of characters I don't know but I hope so. But what do you think? Would an MCU based game work?
