Quick Thoughts: AEW All Out 2022

In a changing landscape in the wake of Vince McMahon's removal as the head of WWE it has lead to that weird group of people on twitter that fed on the lies of Vince McMahon now want to feed on the lies the new head of WWE in Triple H says. It's odd but whatever gets them the attention they want, it is still fuck the Fed hours over here. While my interest in wrestling isn't at a high at the moment I still expect the entire show to be great if not a little too long looking

Zero Hour

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship Match: Jericho Appreciation Society (Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara) (c) vs. Ruby Soho and Ortiz
AEW seems to have a hold on some AAA titles, the tag team titles of the promotion are currently held by FTR and the Mixed Tag Titles held by Sammy & Tay. While not the big upgrade in opponent Eddie got it is good to see Ruby on the show I just wish she'd win more big matches. Sammy & Tay getting jumped was a fun way to start. Ortiz in his Taka tribute attire thrrew me off right away but not to that Cody neck tattoo level. With the AAA titles on the line I expected the retention but above all else I hope Ruby is ok looked like she broke her nose.

FTW Championship Match: Hook (c) vs. Angelo Parker
More Hook is always good. Winning the FTW title meaning him & Taz are the first father son duo to win the title (the most important father and son title winning duo) but I do wonder when we get Hook in a bigger story, so far the only story has been that with Danhausen but I dunno he's only 23 but he's over let's see more of him on TV. Man Angelo gave Hook some stiff shots that big boot was not nice. A fine match just another Hook match but nice to see him selling I just want to see him do something with more depth.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match: PAC (c) vs. Kip Sabian
I have to wonder the full purpose of the All-Atlantic championship, I believe this was a request from Discovery following the Warner merger. PAC makes his first defence at an AEW show but it would be nice to see the title defended more in AEW (also at WrestleKingdom I need PAC vs. Shingo there please). It is good to see Kip back he needed some change to his overall character so we will see where the box on his head goes. I got lost on who the face was in the match and it took me out of it PAC worked very heel like. Right man won for PAC's first All-Atlantic title in an AEW ring, just have him on TV more and as for Kip this was a very good showing his best in AEW in my mind. Let's go with Orange vs. PAC again that will be great.

Tomohiro Ishii vs. Eddie Kingston
I have to be honest I am looking forward to this a lot more than Eddie vs. Sammy. I am glad they have resolved their issues but talk about an upgrade. Always nice to see the forbidden door used randomly and hopefully this can be seen the other way with AEW talent announced for random New Japan shows (I mean FTR got announced for Royal Quest but let's have PAC vs. Shingo January 4th). I mean this is a very Eddie vs. Ishii match and what you'd expect very physical match glad Eddie won I do wonder what is next for him now.

Main Show

Casino Ladder Match: Claudio Castagnoli vs. Wheeler Yuta vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Rey Fénix vs. Rush vs. Andrade El Idolo vs. Dante Martin vs. The Joker
Before we start talking about the match I really want to see Yuta vs. Dante, just he clash of styles it is a match you can do over the years as you build them up to be the top people of the company as they get older. I am a sucker for the sunset flip off the ladder. I dunno this match was sloppy in parts but in others good but that's the risk with a ladder match. The ladder match ending was odd but I feel that was a very MJF looking man. This must be a wait and see.

AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)) vs. "Hangman" Adam Page and The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and John Silver)
The melodrama of The Elite takes centre stage for the Trios title final. I normally have reservations for Tag Titles & Trios Titles but I feel AEW has a good number of stables and with AEW being a stable heavy company it works more. Omega is back gone is the shirt and medical equipment and he is ripped. This match was centered around Hangman as it should and man the crowd exploded when he and Omega face off. I do like these trios matches as it gives talent like Silver & Reynolds to shine this time on PPV. I love the ending Hangman being the one to lose the match. That's how you establish a set of titles.

AEW TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Athena
Poor Kris Statlander, getting injured she was going to be the one who beat Jade and I guess now unfortunately this won't be the case. It has left me wondering when who is the one to get that big win over Jade and the TBS title I was thinking Red Velvet returns for her injury but going into this I felt that it wouldn't be Athena winning. Jade getting the big entrance made me think by wrestling logic she'd lose but someone had to break that. Jade winning made sense but it was sloppy a fine match for Jade I just have to wonder who beats her now.

Wardlow and FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley)
The Pinnacle reunite to take on the TNA X Division of 2007. I was very happy to see MCMG in AEW and it is something I have wanted to see for a while but man I was ready for Satnam Singh on PPV. Weird to have this so close to the Trios title match but this was still good, I don't watch Impact so seeing MCMG again was nice, hopefully they can work a match against FTR. A perfectally fine match I just wish the TNT title would get a PPV defence. Good to see Joe back after filming Twisted Metal let's go and get Joe vs. Singh.

Ricky Starks vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
Another feud built on a personal level as Team Taz explodes. It's nice that both men have entrances that have a big feel to them. I really like Hobbs I want him to be the next in line for a TNT title match just give me Hobbs vs. Wardlow. I've been loving Starks as a face he is a house of fire and man this match ended out of nowhere I was shocked that spinebuster looked so good, clear win for Hobbs I wonder who's next be it a rematch or something else but I hope we get a longer match those two have good chemistry.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Swerve In Our Glory (Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland) (c) vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster)
I am so happy that The Acclaimed getting a tag title PPV match, they were two guys put together and formed into one of the most over acts in AEW, while I went in thinking this was not the time for them to win I still think their time will come. Scissor me Daddy Ass always gets a cheer what a slogan and it is over to a level I never expected. The Acclaimed are such a fun act and it was the right move for have Swerve In Our Glory work as the heels for the match the fans wanted an Acclaimed win and while they didn't what a match. I honestly would've called an audible and have The Acclaimed win, man run it back that was a special match. Grand Slam have The Acclaimed win they are over and thet are ready.

Interim AEW Women's World Championship Match: Toni Storm vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Hikaru Shida
With Thunder Rosa out injured a new interim champion is needed. All four women in the match I would be happy to win but against all odds I was hoping for the Jamie win. Nice to see Shida in a more prominant role I know she is part time really now due to her acting commitments in Japan but always a great wrestler. These women put in a bad spot after the crowd really wanted The Acclaimed to win to get them back onside or so I thought they had no issue with that. Toni Storm winning probably the right call but I wanted Jamie. The end of the match sets up Britt & Jamie to split which is good let's get face Jamie she can beat Britt and then beat Jade let's go. Toni as champ should be great the division needed a reset as I felt Rosa's reign didn't live up to expectations give Toni some quality opponents (from AEW & from STARDOM) and see the divison take off, give me
Utami Hayashishita.

Jack Perry vs. Christian Cage
This might be my favourite AEW story of 2022, a long form story in which Christian was hiding in plain sight ready to take out Jack Perry for the most petty of reasons. A match that should focus more on the emotions behind it then doing big moves after big move. 2022 Tomko betrayed Jack Perry really ending Jurassic Express which is best for Jack he can move on up the card post this match. I love this a great way to move the feud along big gimmick match at Grand Slam. Christian outworked everyone got a quick cheap win, poor Jack Perry, I do wonder the injury Christian has but expect a rematch in the near future.

'The American Dragon' Bryan Danielson vs. 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho
So we can just request what Jericho we can fight? All kidding aside Jericho is doing some great work with the Jericho Appreciation Society and I love that this feud was built around Daniel Garcia it makes him feel more important that two of the top people in the company are fighting over his allegiance. An interesting end to the match Jericho needed to cheat to win the pro wrestling match with Daniel Garcia watching on it adds more to his story. For someone who wasn't in the match this all centered on Garcia.

House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews) vs. Darby Allin, Sting, and Miro
Before going into the match I hope Malakai Black is healthy or at the very least if able to get the help for the mental health issues he is currently going through. Once Black joined AEW I really wanted to see him and Darby feud or wrestle instead we got a really fun mini feud between Brody & Darby which had that great Coffin Match. Sting is the best wrestler in the world I love the use of him. I would've preferred a House of Black win but I feel Black will be taking some time off to rest and if that's what he feels he needs then I hope he gets the rest and help he needs. Don't have a lot of thoughts on this one, it was a match that happened wonder what everyone does now.

AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. CM Punk
First of all before the match at All Out their match on Dynamite shocked me. I did not expect Mox to run through Punk as quick as he did and it was surprising. It's an interesting way to set up a title rematch but good for Mox he deserved a run as world champion in front of an audience and being officially the first ever two time AEW World Champion. I like the opening portion being a carbon copy of their Dynamite match but with Punk almost winning. I really enjoyed this match the more it went on a good match that told a good story, Punk being a 2 time AEW Champion makes sense so you can tell his story now he is back from injury. A great match the end the match a main event with two major stars.

The post match gave us what was expected from the opening match MJF is back and the number one contender, we head straight to MJF vs. Punk 3 whenever that will happen likely Grand Slam, a big way to close the show. All in all All Out 2022 was a good show, not the best overall in ring for AEW it still had big moments and strong matches the Trios, Tag & World title matches lead the way. I do still feel The Acclaimed should've won but we will see where we stand post Grand Slam. Overall, still a very fun PPV and with MJF back I feel that AEW has a very strong roster to have a very good last quarter of 2022.
