New Japan Pro Wrestling: My Hopes For 2026

This could be a big year for wrestling. Tanahashi and Cena retired and we are likely to see the end of the careers of the likes of AJ Styles and Tiger Mask. This is combined with TNA's bigger TV deal, AEW continuing to roll through (and they just ended up with a TV deal in South Korea) it's a big year. But as the title of this post says it is about New Japan Pro Wrestling. We are 2/2 for positive shows this year and will be starting the New Beginning tour later this month. I think as the third biggest wrestling company in the world it is odd to say they need a rebuilding year but I think it is needed. New Japan will start by using the celebrity of Aaron Wolf as a main hook in shifting tickets while using the increased eyes to establish it's top of the card. Look seeingly it's working and if it's a good move then it's a good move but I think by the time we hit January 4th 2027 New Japan should be fully formed in this new era. I personally just want to note a few ...

New Japan Pro Wrestling's Start to 2026 Has Me Hopeful

We are now on January 6th as of the time I begin writing this. Two days removed from Wrestle Kingdom and two days removed from the retirement of Hiroshi Tanahashi. Man what an emotional match and ceremony for one of if not the all time great that left me pretty emotionally drained for the RevPro show I was at after. It’s a curious time for New Japan now they have to put all their ducks in a row. I am however cautiously optimistic for the future coming out of New Years Dash. Of course the return of the V4 heavyweight title is a good move I love that belt and its history. We need to see how the history of the titles work I’d just merge the world heavyweight title lineage into it. The same way I didn’t like forgetting the history of the heavyweight title I am the same with the world heavyweight title. That belt is the legacy and history of the likes of Ospreay, Shingo, ZSJ, Moxley, SANADA, Takeshita & Goto as well as additional world title reigns of Okada, Naito & Jay White. All t...

Quick Thoughts - AEW World’s End 2025

We are days away from 2025 ending and 2026 beginning which is always a time of reflection. For wrestling it’s been a case people realising what I’ve said all along, AEW is good, WWE is bad and Triple H is a fraud of a booker. John Cena retired to anger and while I agree with the finish and it a what I thought when you’ve trained and audience on moments and entrances I’m sure the moment they wanted was one last triumph. I’m sure the PR spin on how Triple H isn’t mad he really isn’t mad is in full force by now but we aren’t here to talk about that. It’s an interesting card mainly dominated by the December tradition of the Continental Classic. I don't mind this but it is an odd one that the card doesn't feel like a fully formed card at the moment. We are 10 days away from the show I am writing this super yearly just in terms of free time in the festive period so we might even see some major additions to the card I think as of time of writing the Women's Title match will add Th...

Trying to Predict Inazuma Japan in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road

*Spoilers for Inazuma Eleven:Victory Road*  Man I guess all roads lead back to Inazuma Eleven. While my full thoughts on Victory Road will come likely at some point in the new year I wanted to make a quick stop to talk spoilers and future especially after the end of the story mode. As ever once the domestic tournament season is done we head to the international stage with Football Frontier International (FFI). There's been some leaks of the kit and badge so I wouldn't be shocked to see it as an expansion back later next year once the free updates for Ares & Orion come out. With that in mind we need to look towards what the team will be.  I've kept it for the moment to 16 although it may be more in the series with the bench rotating and locked per match and while their default positions are listed I think a few will chop and change as is what happens with FFI, in the first one we had Sakuma as a midfielder for large parts and most of the time Fubuki was back in defence a...

Top Five Wrestling Matches Seen Live: 2025 Edition

2025 was a year that wrestling happened. Yeah, that’s an introduction when you’ve done this now for three years are ran out of intros at two. You could say that writing that introduction hook isn’t my forte but what has been is the live attending of wresting shows. As ever the live experience have been fun and with a whole host of matches to choose from ranking a top 5 will be a difficult one. Thankfully this year I actually planned ahead to have everything ranked ahead of time it’s just the writing now. For your consideration, the following events shall be considered and of course spoilers.  22nd August: Revolution Pro Wrestling Global Wars UK 23rd August: Revolution Pro Wrestling 13th Anniversary Show 24th August: AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 5th October: Revolution Pro Wrestling Live in London 100 2nd November: Revolution Pro Wrestling Live in London 101 7th December: Revolution Pro Wrestling Live in London 102 Yes a record number of shows for the lazy, antisocial man that I am whi...

RevPro At Wembley What Do They Need To Do?

What do we have? Half a year before this show? Look I need to talk and talk now. Next August is the biggest night in British Wrestling History arguably since the pandemic as Revolution Pro Wrestling heads to Wembley Arena for their 14th anniversary show and man it’s already feeling like a big show. Yes, I already have my tickets but Wembley arena is a big venue with a big wrestling history and as such this needs to be a big show. The day before All In and you’d expect a lot of people to already be around Wembley the day RevPro take centre stage and as such they need to bring as many people in as possible. As such we need discuss the major issue for RevPro and that is how to get as many buts in as many seats.  But first, let us break down Wembley Arena for wrestling. A venue in the shadow of Wembley Stadium it has a big history of its own. It’s a unique venue and probably the only one that both Sting & Kurt Angle have won world titles in (WCW & TNA respectively). But not jus...

Quick Thoughts: AEW Full Gear 2025

Man I can’t tell if this has been a quick year or a slow year. On one hand I’m like damn end of November already on the other it’s how is this year still got a month left. Time remains undefeated, but one thing that doesn’t remain undefeated is perception. It’s been a funny old year of remaining steadfast that AEW was the better product over WWE despite people saying how hot WWE was. We end 2025 with people actually looking at the pig slop that company serves and seeing it’s always been bad and that Triple H isn’t the Booker everyone said he was (which was obvious from the get go Ryan Ward did all the good work in NXT). This also flips the switch for people with AEW. 2025 showed a renewed focus for AEW in terms of its shows which have been at a consistent level of good quality even now with weekly shows not having MJF for the last month as well as Swerve and Ospreay for longer. But we aren’t here to bash WWE or people who complain about their disgusting ticket prices but still buy them...
