Could The Batman Mythos Creative A Cinematic Universe On Its Own?
The balance of power at DC has changed. James Gunn & Peter Safran are the co-Chairmen and co-CEO's for DC and their film efforts. What came next was a strong reboot of all, we saw cancellation of film and actor contract before a big announcement at some point soon for how this cinematic universe (or is it now a multiverse with how the MCU is moving). One thing we know that hasn't been cancelled is that of The Batman 2. Matt Reeves directed a great film and it got me thinking, with a reboot of DC as a whole will everything be moved into that Batman universe or will Batman be on his own. On the later as per the post title I was wondering does Batman have enough to sustain a cinematic universe in his own mythos and will look how to break that down now. I am not basing this in Matt Reeve's film and tv series which is why I won't mention any large film ideas but just characters and as such this is something that would take a good while to develop all the characters you could end up with mutliple people playing the same character but for now we are just doing some real baseless idea planning.
Heroes
To begin with let's start with the heroes. As you know Batman has a multitude of sidekicks over the years which you can introduce at a steady pace. What you have in regards to heros in the Bat-Family (at least according to Wikipedia excluding Catwoman)

- Dick Grayson/Nightwing
- Jason Todd/Red Hood
- Tim Drake/Red Robin
- Stephanie Brown/Spoiler
- Barbara Gordon/Batgirl
- Damian Wayne/Robin
- Katherine Kane/Batwoman
- Julia Pennyworth
- Cassandra Cain/Black Bat/Orphan
- Duke Thomas/The Signal
- Lucas Fox/Batwing
- Harper Row/Bluebird
- Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael
- Helena Bertinelli/Huntress
- Minhkhoa "Khoa" Khan/Ghost-Maker
So from this we have a large host of characters to add and develop. I always find it funny how you have some comics where Batman is missing or dead and they say that Gotham has no hero or protector when you have the majority of the above operating. Obviously the key to a cinematic universe is having a host of heroes that can tell different stories which I think once these characters get their lift off I think you can get that. Between Nightwing's first solo outing or Red Hood's coming to grips with his own mortality (or just under the Red Hood how about that) I think you can have a variety of stories once the building blocks are in place away from just Batman and Batman centred films.
Villains
Every good hero needs a villians and I think The Batman mythos draws strength here. I would argue that Batman has the second best catalogue of rouges (behind Spider-Man) and therefore I think you can have villains which would work better with different heroes. I don't have any real examples outside of having mob villains like Black Mask & Great White Shark be who Red Hood would face off with. I think it is about having characters work with an antagonist that works with them or challenges them. This also has the benefit of allowing us to see villains that we wouldn't likely get on screen if we just use Batman. I would love to see how a villain like Prometheus would be developed on screen and if you place him against someone like Nightwing and how he would react to a dark reflection of his mentor and father figure which would not be something we would normally see.

Supporting Characters
While you have heroes and villains you need more surrounding those and supporting the story. Characters like Jim Gordon & Renee Montoya would be needed to drive the story along. Even more important is Alfred the emotional pillar of the Bat-Family honestly is the most crucial member of the cast of heroes the one who helps guide and teach. You can just have the hero and villain punch each other for 90 minutes a film (or like 30-50 minutes a TV episode) youneed the city of Gotham to act as its own character as well. You need the city to feel alive which was always something I felt Arkham Knight missed with it's mass evacuation at the start of the game.

What all of the above would need is time. Time to develop each Robin though their journey, time to develop Gotham to be honest I don't know if it all can be done. Can you rush through Dick Grayson's journey from Robin to Nightwing or the Death in the Family and then Under the Red Hood it seems the impossible you'd need to commit actors to just play Batman over and over. Maybe you'd look to do this animated I don't know, this was just fun to put pen to paper and would be interesting to see more Batman characters developed on screen. I guess what I really want is for different Batman characters to be shown on screen.
